Types of Services provided in Counselling
- Individual Counselling-Psychological support provided. It involves a confidential and collaborative relationship between the client and the counsellor. Clients discuss their thoughts, emotions, mental health concerns and experiences in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
- Group Counselling-It’s a therapeutic approach in which a counselor facilitates a group of individuals who come together to address shared concerns, explores common issues and provides mutual support. Multiple participants interact with each other in a safe and confidential environment, guided by the counselor.
- Psycho-education- Providing education and information about mental health, Psychological issues and various therapeutic approaches to individuals and groups. It helps to advocate, enhance understanding and knowledge, raising awareness on mental self-health, promote self-management and improve overall wellbeing.
- Mindfulness Meditation-Teaching client to mindfully be pay attention to the present moment without judgment. It cultivates awareness of thoughts, emotions, bodily sensation and the surrounding environment. Some mindfulness practices that are :
- Basic Vipassana: This practice originated in Buddhist tradition but it’s often practiced as a secular technique. It involves observing and investigating the sensation and experiences of the body and mind in a non-judgmental and detached manner.
- It includes mindfulness breathing, Body scanning.
- Classical musical meditation-Listening to every rhythms intonation and observing once thoughts and emotions without getting caught up in it.
- Walking Meditation- It involves integrating mindfulness and awareness into the act of walking. The practitioners engage in slow, deliberate walking practice with focused attention to the body sensations and surroundings.
- Eating meditation- It involves mindful eating bringing full attention and awareness to the process of eating. It emphasizes the sensory experience, thoughts, and emotions that arise during meals. It encourages individuals to slow down, savor each bite and cultivate a deeper connection with food and their body.
- Nature-guided therapy- This therapy is conducted in natural environment. It includes as follows
- Nature immersion- Spending time in natural setting as a means of promoting relaxation, reducing stress and foreseeing sense of connection with the natural world.
- Endless wondering- The individual along with the therapist goes to the natural environment and endlessly wonders maintaining the noble silence. The therapist in the beginning asks the clients to collect things from nature that they can relate to and towards the end, they sit down in nature and discuss the whole experience.
- Therapeutic activities in nature- It involves activities designed to facilitate therapeutic processes. It includes journaling reflecting in nature, creating art and many more.
- Connection with non-human- Connecting with Plants, tress and all the natural things that surrounds the nature. Activities like tree- hugging, talking to the objects to release negativity, deep breathing. This connection can foster a sense of interdependence, empathy and an appreciation for the natural world.
